Default Hyperlink Changes

Using Outlook ’03…

I have an issue with hyperlink addresses changing; e.g.:

When I created an embedded hyperlink in a Word or Excel doc to a
network drive, the hyperlink(s) work fine.

When I attach the doc in Outlook (and view it) and send the doc to
someone, the address gets appended with C:\Documents and Settings
\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files…

Needless to say, the hyperlink does not work anymore.

Why does it do this, and how can I stop it?

I realize that once the doc is attached, it’s stored in the
aforementioned folder, but the hyperlink shouldn’t follow the doc!

Thanks,
alex
