locking up
 
outlook downloads my email o.k. then locks up and wont let me read it. if I
close outlook then restart it seems to work o.k. any ideas

This isn't giving us much to work with. When you post in here, always
include your version, SP level, and mode (if applicable) of Outlook - you
can find this information in Help | About. Also include the type of mail
account(s) you use and any other pertinent details. Be sure to put a consise

locking up
 
I am using windows xp sp2 and the version of outlook is office outlook 2003
sp2 this is something that has happened over the last month or so, it still
downloads the email o.k. then wont open it untill I shut down outlook and
reopen it then it works fine until the next download of email. Hope this helps

Yes, that's a good start, although you still haven't mentioned the type of
e-mail account you're using and whether you get any error messages. I'm
presuming you use a POP account. What exactly happens when you double-click
on one of the new messages to

One suggestion: try running Outlook once in safe mode (using the /safe
switch)

If that works, you may have an add-in that is causing problems.
