Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

In Outlook 2007, I created in Rules and Alerts:

(1) Desktop Alert Settings. When I click onto Preview, it works well.

However, in the MS Outlook application when I get incoming mail, it does not work at all.

(2) "Apply this rule after the message arrives through the account and on this machine only play ??????.wav and stop processing more rules".

When I click onto Run Rules Now, Run Now, the sound works well.
However, in the MS Outlook application when I get incoming mail to the Inbox, no sound is generated.

In MS Outlook: Tools | Options | E-mail | E-mail Options | Advanced E-mail Options | the Play a sound box is ticked.

My computer has a 64-bit CPU, running Vista Ultimate 64-bit and MS Office 2007.

Unless the Live account is your delivery location, rules and alerts won't
work. If it is your delivery location, rules should work, but I don't know
whether or not the standard desktop alert will work. If it does, you
shouldn't need the rule.

I deleted my old Rules & Alerts, ran scanpst, then reapplied the Rules & Alerts, however I still have the problem.

If you have any more ideas, I would greatly appreciate them.
