Export PST
Hello all,
Does anyone know of a way, or tool, that will extract the records out of a PST, so they can be put into Access or SQL? Access 2007 seems to only do one folder in the PST at a time, and I actually need to do this to a dozen large PST's. The other question is; does anyone know of a way, or tool that will pull all the items from a PST and put them into one folder in a PST? Thanks beforehand, |

I had the same problem until I tried it from the other direction. Instead of
exporting from Outlook to Access, try importing your Outlook from Access. You can also link Outlook folders as Tables in Access, pretty cool stuff. tc "Jacques Latoison" Jacques Latoison at hotmail dot com wrote in message ... Too many folders in the PST.
How do I do the whole PST, as oppossed to just one folder at a time? "Tony Cannizzo" wrote in message .. . I had the same problem until I tried it from the other direction. Would respectfully suggest that you clarify and narrow the scope of your
question(s) - perhaps briefly describe what exactly it is you are trying to accomplish (Outlook is not a relational database and there are various one to many relationships for a single item type - i.e. one contact record - multiple possible entries in its contact links collection as but one very simple example that immediately comes to mind). The second question in your post ("a way........pull all the items from the PST and put them into one folder") makes no logical sense as written. Going strictly by what is being asked - it is the equivalent of asking "How can I export all the information from a Sales/Inventory system (containing separate tables for Customers, Vendors, Products, Orders, Invoices etc etc etc ) and combine all that information into one single table in a way that makes sense?" As for SQL, you can take a look at this tool;
http://addins.howto-outlook.com/genius_connect As for putting everything into a single folder; Create a Search Folder to aggregate all the email items from all folders and then move them to a single folder. The real question remains though; what are you trying to achieve by this? There might be better solutions. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "Jacques Latoison" Jacques Latoison at hotmail dot com wrote in message ... Create a search folder that displays the contents of all folders so everything appears in a single view. You can then easily select the entire list and copy it all at once. That said, I think it's a mistake to consolidate too many folders into a single folder. Of course, "too many" is open to interpretation. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
