Move address contacts to a new computer OL2007 and Vista

I have a new laptop and want to move only my contacts only (Two address
books)not the PST file. I have had major problems with the PST file and wish
to have a "clean start" but I dont want to re-type all me contacts details if
I can avoid it.

Is there an easy way to do this please?

Andy

Move address contacts to a new computer OL2007 and Vista

The old (or current) PST was badly corrupted and even the main MS support
had probles with this. They created a new PST file and left the VERY large
old one still attached to the personal filders file which has a zillion
e-mails in it. I wanted to delete or dump all the old e-mails in and out (MS
said I could not or should not delete the folders...do this) but retain my 2
address books and transfer them to the new computer and newly installed
OL2007... A clean start other than my old contacts is what I wanted to
achieve. Thinking about it, there was one folder call (Work Mail.) I'd also
like to move to the new computer and OL if that is possible as well.

If a new pst was created you will have two sets of Personal Folders, within
Outlook.
The old data file (large one) is usually named outlook.pst, by default, the
new on could be named outlook1.pst
With Outlook closed copy the smaller pst to the new PC
See the link Brian posted

What about moving the contents of one folder (Work mail) from the old OL2007
on the old computer to OL2007 on the new computer.

Work Folder? This is a folder within which pst, the corrupt one or the new
one?
If its in the new pst it will be contained within that pst when you copy the
entire pst

Export each one as a .csv file and copy the file to the new computer and
import. Since you have a new .pst file, lost calendar connections will not
matter.

If you want a clean start but you want just a little of the old data, just
copy the old PST to the new PC (see my prior post abut moving PSTs) and create
a new PST on the new PC (which may have been done already during the install)
for the new Outlook. A new install of Outlook will have all empty folders.
Open the old PST with FileOpenOutlook Data File, open each old folder whose
contents you want to use, select allthe items in it with Ctrl-A and click
EditCopy to Folder, specifying the corresponding new folder as the
destination. If the old folder is not one of the default Outlook folders,
then just Ctrl-click the old folder itself and drag it to the root of the new
defatul folder set. When finished with the copying, right-click the old PST
and choose Close.

You can try a popular Outlook recovery tool called Advanced Outlook
Repair to repair your PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover
messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft
Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
Good luck!
