Cleaning up bloated contacts...

How do I clean up bloated contacts?

Years of syncing with palm and other software has caused lots of excess
fields in the contacts, and adding significantly to their size.

Is there any software that can automatically delete these unnecessary,
excess fields?

Display your contacts by phone list and remove the columns you don't need by
clicking on them and moving them off the column bar. You can also export to
Excel and remove the columns from there as well - it gives you the full view
without as much left-right scrolling.

Cleaning up bloated contacts...

Milly,
I think I am missing something.

If I show the "user defined columns" in the phone list view, then pull them
off the page, it just removes them from the view, but it doesn't remove the
data from the contacts.

I tried to export to Excel, but it doesn't allow me to map the custom user
defined fields...

I'm still stuck with a ton of "user defined fields" that these sync programs
have dropped into my contacts...

Is there any other ideas?

Thanks for your time.

Ah, you didn't mention that they were user defined fields - makes it hard to
export. It is late here in CA so let me sleep on it.

Solved!

Using my windows mobile device, I deleted the partnership, then deleted all
my contacts, then reconnected and combined items from my mobile device with
outlook. Windows mobile does not sync the additional information!!!
