Outlook express

Hi,

Since yesterday when I open Outlook Express I am greeted with the message
"Access to the account was denied. Verify that your username and password
are correct".

The information contained in the details are as below:

Forbidden

Configuration:
Account: Hotmail
Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
User name: removed for privacy reasons
Protocol: HTTPMail
Port: 0
Secure(SSL): 0
Error Number: 998
Code: 800ccc33

The username and password have not been changed and I have checked that they
are correct. The username and password are obviously correct as I can log
into Windows Live Hotmail via Internet Explorer, just not through Outlook
Express. Also I have a pop3 account for googlemail this also gets the same
error.

Now I have downloaded outlook connector and I can now use outlook 2003 with
Hotmail etc for the time being but I would like outlook express working

Does this mean outlook express no longer works because I cant get accounts
to go through it.

Kind Regards

Martin Adams

http://www.howto-outlook.com/news/ho...sforbidden.htm This applies to
Outlook Express as well. You'd be best asking in the OE newsgroup though for
specific instructions. This newsgroup specializes in Microsoft Outlook which
is not the same as Outlook Express, even though the names are similar.

You should ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup. This is for Outlook.

While this is an outlook group, not outlook express, this is one question we
can answer"

To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, you need to select
one of the methods below to connect to Hotmail before September 1, 2009.
After this, new e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through
the following solutions.

If you use Outlook 2003/2007, you can download the free Outlook Connector to
continue receiving Hotmail. If you're using Outlook 2002, you will need to
change the account to use POP3. If you use Outlook Express to view Hotmail,
you can choose between downloading Windows Live Mail (free) or reconfigure
your account to use POP3. See
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/msn_denied.asp for details.
