How can I set up my Outlook so that if i receive an email from someone - say
Alan Strong for example - that all emails received by this individual go
straight to a folder in my inbox and not in my normalised inbox.

Use the Rules Wizard to do this.

In Outlook's Help, look for "create a rule".
