Outlook 2003 ERROR MAPI32.DLL is Corrupt

I just purchased a new laptop and I am trying to install my Office 2003
software. Word and Excel open fine but when I click on Outlook I get the
following message.

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong
version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging software.
Please reinstall Outlook.

I tried reinstalling but I get the same error. I am running windows 7 on a
core i7 64 bit processor. What can I do to get this up and running? I don't
think there is any messaging softwareinstalled.

Thanks for any input

Cole

Easy check...

Do you have the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\LANGID

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\LANGID

Just so you know, "program files" is where 64bit applications install and
"program files (x86)" is where 32-bit applications install into. So if you
see a MSMAPI32.DLL file sitting under the "program files (x86)" area, rename
it to something like MSMAPI32.DLL.ORIGINAL. Then go to programs applet in
control panel and do a repair installation of Office 2003/Outlook 2003.

You shouldn't find a MSMAPI folder under "Program Files". If you do, it
means you have something installed that included 64bit MAPI support.
Microsoft Office 2010 is the first version of Microsoft Office to ship in
64bits.

Other than that, don't forget to apply the Service Pack 3 for Office 2003
and all required security updates offered by Windows Update.

OK, I spoke to soon. I shut down for a while and booted back up and now I get
the same error. I went through the steps again and it is back up but will I
have to do this everytime I shutdown?

This isn't normal. Do the rename/repair bit, but before starting any Office
2003 application, run fixmapi.exe. This exe is in the \windows\system32
folder.

After doing it a second time I have shut down and restarted numerous times
and it seems to be functioning properly. I will post again if it persists.

Thanks again for the help.
