New Outlook 2003 Install Won't Load
I accidentaly put the wrong Exchange information in on the initial
setup. Now, I'm getting the following messgae: "Unable to open your default email folders. The file C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost is not an offline file folder file." I click OK and the prgram closes. I've read that I need to check a registry key, which I have, and that is in order. I have also read that I can go into the Control Panel and edit the Mail settings there. I have done this before, but what do I do when there is no Mail applet to launch from the Control Panel? Alex |

If you are running Windows XP and have the new start panel showing, you can
click on Start right click on Microsoft Outlook icon select Properties. By the way, the mail applet icon only shows when the control panel is in classic view. So make sure you look in the upper left corner for that link that switches between classic and category view. "ajamrozek" wrote in message ups.com... ah...that lovely right click. That did it. Cheers!
I do have the classic control panel enabled. Any other thoughts on why the mail icon isn't showing? Alex |

There are 3rd party programs like tweakui or registry edits that can be used
to hide control panel applets. http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/522/ covers the second part. "ajamrozek" wrote in message oups.com... ah...that lovely right click. That did it. Cheers!
