NO REPLY 2003, MS Office Prof. Outlook unable to send email. Rcv O

Still no reply. I am using Windows 2003, Professional Office Outlook 2003.
Hi
I setup work email from home. Checked server requires authentication because
it does. Correct server names. Can receive email from server but cannot
send. Exact message I get
is below:

550 must be authenticated

These users exist on the server I am sending through; I send/reply from work
fine. Set up these users in new contact folder at home office. Only
difference is Office 2000 SR-1 at work. Any Ideas???

Please help

Hello Worker bee

Can you please let me know who is your ISP so that we can let you know
how to set the email account in the outlook program.

We can use your ISP outgoing server to send mails and get it working

Let me know and mail me

Hi Jason

I am not sure which ISP you refer to. My home ISP is verizon.
My work ISP is a German company. I receive from the work server fine.

Thx

Hi Jocelyn

I went to the link you refer. It seems I am what MS calls a Relay user. I do
not fully understand what is being said however. Thx

The link states: you are using a scenario that is considered relay, you must
send the message through your current connection's server. This means if you
are at work or away from home and not using your ISP to connect to the
Internet, and you want to send a message from your home ISP e-mail account,
you must change your e-mail account settings to specify the SMTP server used
at your location, for example, your work SMTP server.

If this solution doesn't work for you, or you prefer to use your home ISP
account, your next step is to contact your ISP and ask if any of the options
described earlier are available to you. For the first two restrictions —
require SMTP authentication or require that you connect to the ISP POP3
(incoming) mail server first — you can make the changes in Outlook in the
E-mail Account Wizard.

My home ISP is Verizon. So I guess that means to reply to work email I have
to go through Verizon first and then send my reply off to the work server in
Germany? If this is true, Verizon is letting me receive (from the German
server) ok.
