Cache mode in Outlook 2003
 

We recently upgraded to Outlook 2003 and have lost our junk email filtering
capability. I have tried to switch to cache mode in Outlook but that option
in greyed out. I have looked at the Exchange Server settings and cannot
fiind a Group Policy that restricts this. We are using Exchange Server 2000.
I have admin access and would appreciate any helping fixing this. I am
drowning in spam every Monday morning.

Are you working on a terminal server? If so, Cached Exchange mode is not available.

Yes, I am using a terminal server. If Cache mode is not available, is there
a server sided spam filtering ability. I have looked at adding known spam
domains to the filtered list on the exchange server but that would require
adding new ones each time and would probably not be very effective. Would I
be better off adding a spam filter application on top of our existing system?

Best to ask about Exchange capabilities and add-ons in the microsoft.public.exchange.admin group, but yes, in your configuration, spam filtering needs to take place at the server.
