i get an error cannot connect to server or timed out
 

i have outlook 2003 my internet provider is bellsouth i used to use out look
for my email. now an error comes up unable to connect to server or timed out
i've
increased time to receive mail and to no avail. also i don't know if port
numbers are correct

We don't know either if you don't tell; what are they set to?
What is the exact error message?
Do you run a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook? Disable this
integration and try again.
