I can't get Outlook to work on wireless connection, works on deskt

I just set up my notebook on a wireless connection, using the exact same
settings as on my desktop, yet it won't connect. The message I get is "The
specified server was found, but there was no response from the server. Plase
verify that the port and SSL information is correct. To access these
settings close this dialog, then click More Settings and click on the
Advanced tab."
I get this message for both incoming and outgoing. The ISP tech support was
baffled too.
The desktop gets email and I can go to the ISP's site to get them too.

Do you have a firewall on the laptop blocking port access?

Here's where my ignorance shines! I just bought the laptop, so I don't know
if there is a firewall or not, nor how I would find out. I will check it out
when I get home though.

I did disable the firewall and it still didn't work. I disabled the virus
protection too and that didn't work. I gave my ISP's site SSL permission.
So far nothing works.
