Do you mean the red "X" in the upper right of the window? What version of
Outlook? What changed on your PC between when you saw it last and now?

Thanks for your interest Brian-After I have clicked on the x in the right
hand corner a pop up appears on the screen stating 'Please wait while
Microsoft Outlook exists' - it never does and I have to use the alt
+delete.
I installed BETA outlook 2007 on my Microsoft XP- as I did not need so many
options I used the restore point which I had set up prior to installing the
BETA 2007. It was working fine before I got carried away with the BETA!!. I
tried reinstalling Office 2000 Pro but it did not resolve this problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I haven't had the opportunity to try out the beta yet, so someone else will
have to chime in.
