Am using Office 2003 and Out;look refuses to check email by itself -
I always have to press F9. I have changed the automatic Send/receive times for both online and offline with no help. I tried an office repair - no change. Ther only think that I think could have caused this is that I changed the name of the computer. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I need to remove Outlook and do a fresh install? Thansk Bill |

It is impossible to determine why automatic polling is failing when you do
not post your mail account type, connection type and polling settings. The Magic 8-ball says, "Try again later." Next time post some information. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] wrote in message ... Using Outlook 2003 sp2
3 mail accounts all POP3 connection type is Lan to cable modem Polling settings are now set at 1 minute for offline and online I did try adding another account group in case the "all accounts" group was damaged and set that one to frequent checking too but it made no difference. The only way I get email id if I manually request it through button or F9 Bill "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... Outlook should ignore that request. Did you really think Outlook could
complete an entire polling cycle for 3 accounts in 1 minute then start it all over again? Why would you do this? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "a" wrote in message . .. ![]() You guys are tough! Why set to 1 minute? - for troubleshooting of course! It was originally set to 5 minutes ( the default I suspect). And yes it can easily check mail per minute - 25 seconds is all it takes when I hit F9 So back to the real problem - what would cause Outlook to ignore the polling time - whatever it is.
