How do I get rid of multiple personal folders in Outlook 2003?

Hello! I've just put together my replacement PC and installed XP Pro and
Office 2003 Pro. As my ISP is through MSN, I also added Outlook Connector.
I wanted to retain many old emails, so I copied the an old Outlook data file
over from my old hard drive. I obviously did something wrong though because
now I have three identical sets of Personal Folders showing up, along with my
MSN folders. I've tried deleting two of the Personal Folders, but to no
avail. Can anyone here help me with this? Thanks!

Hi Paul,

have a look on this site for how to delete a "ghost" PST file:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm

We developed also a freeware tool (Public Fix Profile), based on the
information of the "outlook-tips" website, but this tool is until now only
available in german language.
http://www.publicshareware.de/public-fix-profile.html

but if you like to test it, it is freeware.

Thank you VERY much for the info! Looks like this must be a common problem.

Just so I don't screw things up though.....when the info talks about a PST
having two registry keys versus only one for a ghost PST, can you tell me
exactly what I'm looking for? It seems like there are many keys for me to
search through, so i want to make sure I do this correctly.

Thanks again though. A very quick response that looks very on-target!

Dear Paul,

Looks like this must be a common problem

This is the reason why we developed a freeware tool for this problem.

can you tell me
exactly what I'm looking for? It seems like there are many keys for me to

If have a look on the website:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm

and here on the last 2 screenshot of the registry keys you see that the
first screenshot have a registry key with the number: ab 001e3001

the second screenshot have 2 entries: "ab 001e3001" and "ab 001e3004"

I understand the sentence "The ghost will have just one key" that you can
delete the complete registry key with the 1 number "ab 001e3001".

At last: "....the worst that will happen is you'll need to make a new
profile".

How do I get rid of multiple personal folders in Outlook 2003?

Okay....look's like I have four "personal folder" entries.

One seems to have one "ab" key, 001e3001
The second has two "ab" keys, 001e3001 and 001e3004.
The third has three "ab" keys, 001e3001, 001e3004 and 001e300a.
The last is the same as the third one.

Obviously, the first one can go, but what of the other three?

This seems to make it even more confusing! Sorry!
