Default saving password in outlook

I have a office 2000 professional addition. I had a hard disk crash and
installed Office 2000 again. Now, I can not save my password (for my email
account from comcast) in outllook 2000.

I have several times, click on Tools-account - properties and then server
and then clicked the check mark to save my password and entered my password
which was obscured. But, it seems that it won't save the password for the
next time. This means every time, I want to send/receive email, It prompts me
for the password which is a pain in the neck.

Hi Ali,

I have run into the same problem. Sorry not answer for you but I would like
to know if you were able to resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Those all link back to the same Microsoft article, and none of those fixes
work. I am finding after reading these discussion boards that this is a
common problem I am having. I even reinstalled Outlook and it didn't help. I
hope to find a fix soon.

The reference to msoutlook.info/question/40 on that page appears broken. I
get a dark gray screen with only "link rel="EditURI"
type="application/rsd+xml" on it.

Thanks for reporting but I guess that is a local issue on your side.
Perhaps you are using Firefox with some script or add blocker plugins?

No they don't. 1 of them might be similar but they are definitely not all
the same.

Which mail account type are you using?
At what exact point do you get prompted for your password?
Do you get send/receive errors?

If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable this
integration and try again.

I'm using IE6. The link to /question/28 worked and the link to /40 failed
as I described. It works now, though. Go figure.
