I would like to suggest a small business/personal solution for those users
having a Notebook and also Stand-alone/or Peer LAN Desktop Computer, and who do not have the advantage of a shared Exchange Server. The user takes their Notebook on the road while using Outlook, however when they return to their desktop it would be convenient to auto-synch the Outlook data with the Desktop. This would allow a working backup to be made, and also allow work to be done from either the Desktop or Notebook, without duplication. This could compliment Offline Files. Currently this can be achieved (ex. Inbox) using Active Synch and a third mobile device, however as a PDA or similar isnt always required could not Active Synch be upgraded to allow the above scenario between Notebook and Desktop? Thanks for the link Brian I had seen this site, but wouldn’t it be good to
have the function built into the next version of Outlook. This post was a suggestion placed through the Office Site suggestions and feedback section, it mentioned if enough people voted on the post then the product development team replies to it and uses to help prioritise feature in upcoming versions. However, I believe it would be very worthwhile for, say, ActiveSync to be extended to sync a desktop and a laptop as well as a desktop and PDA. -- Brian Tillman |

Microsoft has said that Office 12 will ship in the 2nd half of 2006. I'm not sure that qualifies as "fairly soon"
