Add Profile Problem
I need to add a mail profile for Outlook 2003. So I went to Control
Panel/Mail/General Tab/Add. I didn't like the looks of the only profile I saw there so I deleted it. Now I want to add the one I want. However, when I click the Add button nothing happens. Nothing. No wizard, no error messages. Nothing. I'm thinking deleting the only profile listed, was a bad idea (understatement?). I was wondering if there was a back door to add even a dummy profile, so that Outlook will be happy and then I can add the profile I want? Or some fix I need to get the first profile added? Or anything? Beuhler? In the mean time, Outlook (of course) will not even open because there is no profile to open with. Duh! Please advise. |
Add Profile Problem
Pardon me. It is Outlook 2002. I'm sorry. And my OS is MS XP SP2 (Home).

Add Profile Problem
So, what exactly do you see when you start the Mail applet in Control Panel?

Add Profile Problem
I see the Mail applet with a single tab titled General.
The box which normally would be propogated with the names of the profiles is empty. No profiles. There is an outline highlighting the area of the profiles box that would normally contain the first profile. But there is nothing written there. Only the Add button is active. Remove, Properties and Copy are grayed out and cannot be pressed. In the 'use this profile' area the current selection is 'prompt for a profile to be used'. I can select 'always use this profile', but there are no choices in the drop down box to choose. I have tried starting Outlook using both the prompt for profile and default profile option with the same results. Attempt to start Outlook result in the following error boxes: "No profiles have been created. To create a new profile, use the Mail icon in the Control Panel." Pressing OK after than results in a second error box which reads: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists." Well of course the server is unavailable. There is not profile to get a server from. Please advise.
