lists migrating account settings in bold
migrating preferences
importing user data

dialogue states Preparing for first time use retrieving mailbox settings

looks as if is is still running but makes no progress for hours

Try creating a new mail profile in Control Panel | Mail.

And please don't use the suggestion feature to post troubleshooting issues.
