Unable to select 'account.' Fatal error occurred in Outlook
A few days ago I began having problems with selecting an e-mail account when
creating a new message or trying to reply to a message from a different account (I have 4 e-mail accounts.) I can receive mail fine, but when replying it will only go from my default account. When I open a new e-mail and try to select the account I want to send it from, I get a pop-up error message that says: "Unable to complete the operation. A fatal error has occurred in Outlook." The very top of the box says "Microsoft Word." This began happening not too long after I had an e-mail stuck in my Outbox. I have done the following: - Created a new profile (had to do this get the stuck e-mail out) - Tried to repair Outlook using 'Detect and Repair' under the help menu. - Tried to repair using the installation disk. - Uninstalled Office 2003 and then reinstalled the entire thing. - Deleted all my e-mail addresses from Outlook and then put them in as new addresses again. Help! I don't know what else to try! -- KaLynn |

Have you tried unchecking the option to use Word as your email editor? What
patch level is Office/Windows XP at? -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Sorry....I'm not sure what a patch level is and I didn't uncheck the option
to use Word as my email editor. After tinkering with Outlook for hours, I decided to delete all of my e-mail addresses, make a new profile, and then put them back in again. Believe it or not, that did the trick! Thanks for your response Milly! -- KaLynn "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: Have you tried unchecking the option to use Word as your email editor?
