I use msn for my email and outlook 2003 - but I need to have an out of office
assistant. The rules option doesn't seem to work - is there another option? |

Since you don't use Exchange, a rule (and leaving Outlook running) is your only option. What didn't work with the rule?

I can not figure out how to put in a message - guess I'm not understanding
the instructions for the rule. Is there a way to move to the exchange server? It's so weird that MSN isn't compatible for this stuff or that the small business upgrade doesn't have something to help in these situations. Use Tools | Options | Mail Format to turn off Word as your email editior. Then create the message you want to use as the reply and save it as an .oft file using the File | Save As command.

Create the message in word? I just tried that but it wouldn't let me do
anything when I browsed for teh file except identify the file the .oft was in. There should be a better way to do this. No. Please read my instructions again. In OUtlook, you need to turn off the use of Word as your Outlook email editor, because that option will block your ability to save a message as an .oft templat file, which is what the rule requires. You create messages, of course, in Outlook, not Word.

I did read your instructions - there is no place in outlook that allows me to

Click FIle | New | Message. Then type your message in the body of that message and save it as an .oft file.
