Russ - Help!!

Russ, I still can't get rid of the 3 sets of Personal Folders plus now I have
a set of "My Folders" with all my emails. I can't close the Personal Folders
because it says that the "Operation Failed. The Object Could Not Be Found." I
have my calendar and my contacts. in fact I have contacts listed 4 times in
the address book, three of which can't be displayed. I don't know enough
about how Outlook works and how things are stored and what controls what gets
displayed to follow general directions. I'm afraid I need details on how to
get rid of these. I even tried to uninstall Office and reinstall it, but
they're still there.

If you have duplicate phantom copies of your pst then likely your OL profile
is corrupt, and removing/installing OL will not help. Create a new profile.

I hvee created a new profile, but the old old Personal Folders are still
there and worse, so are 4 sets of contacts, only one of which works. Are you
telling me that there is no way to get rid of them? Why does uninstalling
and reinstalling not do it. What is causing those phantoms to display?

Then you did not create a new profile because new profiles don't contain ANY
PSTs until YOU add them. Go back and read the articles Mr. Hostetler cited.

Brian, thenk you. The instructions on the link you provided worked to the
extent that I was able to create a new profile and bring in the emails from
my old .pst and get rid of my ghost personal folders, etc. However, while I
can display my contacts by clicking on the contacts icon in the navigation
bar. I cannot display them in the address book or by clicking on the TO:
button when composing a new email. What do I need to do for that?

You need to set your current Contacts Folder as an email address book in its
properties. You may also need to remove the original reference to a Contacts
Folder from the Outlook Address Book he

Everything is now as it should be and I've learned a lot about how to deal
with Outlook. The links you provided were very helpful and i've added the
How To-Outlook to my Bookmarks. Hopefully, I'll be able to deal with new
issues on my own in the future. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to
helping me resolve, what to you was a routine problem, but to me was a
dilemma.

You're welcome. Outlook's "Address Book" is one of its least intuitive
features. It's an outright annoyance if you ask me.
