outlook opens in 8 bit display properties, why?

Outlook opens the display in 8 bit color quality so I have to change it to 32
bit if I want proper color rendition. Do I have to change something in the
registry, or will re-installing the program be the only solution?

OL, itself, shouldn't amend your screen resolution.
Do you have any plugins installed in OL?
Have you updated your vid driver from the manu site, NOT winupdate?
Are you using onboard graphics? if so how much sys memory?

Thank you for your response.
I did a fresh install from my Microsoft disk and no plug-ins.
I updated to sp 2 only.
The weird part is the computer boots up in 32 bit setting. I can go to
Internet explorer and the color setting remains the same (32bit). I can open
Photoshop and the setting remains the same, but as soon as I click on
outlook, it changes to 8 bit.I can go to control panel and change it to 32
bit and it's ok sometimes, but other times will revert back to 8 bit and I
don't know how I make that happen...frustration!
I have a Sony LCD monitor and went to their site and there was no new
update.I have 1 gig of on-board memory.
I also have Intel extreme graphics installed on the computer, but it has
been there longer than the problem. However, I am about to remove it and see
if that will make a difference.
Thanks again for your help.

There have been a number of posts on this, over some period, none of which
has resulted in any reason/cure
PS I didnt mean your monitor I meant your vid card site, allthough in your
case it would either be your mobo site or PC manu, as its an onboard vid
controler.
