How can I setup Outlook to multiple users in XP

Hi,

I have just upgraded my home PC to XP Home Edition from Me and reinstalled
my copy of Outlook 2002. I also took the opportunity of changing the hard
drive for a new bigger one so I did a clean install. I have imported the
Contacts and all my received/sent emails from the old HD. As XP allows each
family member to have their own "account", I set this up. In my own account
area I set about configuring Outlook to connect to my ISP who provided the
necessary pop3 and SMTP etc. All has gone well except for the following two
issues:

1. When I open Outlook, it fails to connect to the mail server and a window
pops up saying so and recommends I check my Outlook account settings. Do
this, seem ok and click the provided test button. This connects beautifully
and the broadband link pops in, no problem at all. Why does it connect when I
run the test but not when I open Outlook up and how do I sort this? It didn't
do this when I was using Me.

2. If a family member goes into their area as set up in XP, they can open
Outlook but their Outlook accounts can't be seen ( I set them up when logged
into my own area). Looks like the Outlook setup that is in in my XP area, is
not in any others. Can I set up Outlook accounts that can be seen universally?

I should add that my ISP gives the ability to have multiple email address's
so that any name or word put in front of the @ symbol is accepted and
delivered. I then set filters in Outlook to distrubute them to whoever in the
family is the recipient
eg or would both get delivered as the isp
mail server doesn't care what goes in front of the @. It only cares about the
address after the @.

Any assistance, suggestions gratefully received.

In the meantime I am setting up an account with XP just for emailing that
all the family can go into and get/send email - pretty much what they were
used to before really

They'll each have to create their own mail profiles using hte Mail applet in
Control Panel.

Mail profiles are user-specific. However, see this:

Not true. If it didn't care about what comes in front of the @, you'd be
receiving mail for everyone using your ISP. What you seem to be describing
are mail aliases for a single mailbox. As far as Outlook is concerned,
those are all the same account.

Why not all of you just use the same Windows username?
