Default Can't set up e-mail accounts

I have WindowsXP SP2 on acomputer which also has dual boot with Windows 98. I
am trying to set up Outlook 2003 with three e-mail accounts which I have on
another computer. I enter the details and get " you have set up e-mail
account successfully" each time but if I go back and press Test Settings, it
reports - Find Internet Connection - Completed, but at Find Server for
Outgoing Mail it shows "Cancelled" for each address. The Pop3 mail server
address is correct.

What can be wrong ?

Hi Stuart,

You could start my verifying your Outgoing Server settings. Mostly, it
should be same as your ISP regardless of the email address you are
configuring.

Verify your outgoing settings and try sending out a test email message to
yourself and let me know if Outlook throws any error message.

Thanks,

Mittu

Thanks for your reoly. I have checked the addresses several times. They are
pop.bluewin ch and mail.bluewin.ch and the same addresses work every day on
my other computer (this one). I have tried deleting the address and
reentering. No help.

Tried sending a teat message to myself. Immediately I try to send I get
"Unknown error 0x8007007E" and the message doesn't get sent. in a few
minutes it tries again and this time reports another error message whose
number I did not get but is something like "Timed out waiting for server to
send message".

I'm baffled. On a third computer on my small network the same addresses
work fine with Outlook 2003 and on this one with Outlook Express.

Default Can't set up e-mail accounts

Hi Stuart,

There's a chance that the Office installation files are corrupted/damaged.
If you have the Office 2003 Discs, please proceed with the steps below -

(1) Download and install the Windows installer clean-up utility.

(2) Remove the Office 2003 program using the above tool.

(3) Re-install Office 2003.

(4) Re-configure Outlook 2003 with one email account and try some test
messages.
If everything works fine, configure rest of the accounts.

If you do not have the Office disc, try running a Detect and Repair from
Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Microsoft Office (Most likely you might
end up with some errors during the initiation).

Let me know if it helps you out.

Regards,
Mittu

Default Can't set up e-mail accounts

Dear Stuart,

Recently I also had a problem similar to you, and I was unable to activate
my accounts settings, but after a lot R&D finally I got the success.
You just take the backup of your all Data on any external Hard Drive from
the all Drives in use(C/D/E) whatever you are using. Just Reboot your PC by a
XP SP2 bootable CD and format the entire PC and then delete all partitions of
the Hard Drive, Create new Partitions again and reinstall Windows XP, and
then MS Office.
This problem is being due to a Virus Threat, so make sure as you reinstall
XP Install and Update the antivirus first, I have loaded McAfee, and also
Scan your Data with the AntiVirus.
Hope you'll find the resolution of your problem with the help of above action.
Thanks & Regards!
