Default Outlook Contacts "Show this folder as an e-mail Addre.." grayed ou

Hi

After installing Office 2003 I'm not able to see my own contacts when
composing a new e-mail and pressing the "To..." button.
When checking the Outlook Address book the "Show this folder as an e-mail
Address Book" is grayed out, and can't be chosen

This happens, both when updating from Office XP (Where you are able to see
your own contacts) and when installing on a fresh PC, without office installed

I found the MS solution:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287563/

It describes how to solve the problem, but i need an solution that fixes it
automatically - We are upgrading 1500 users to Office 2003 from Office XP,
and I really don't like to fix this manually for all users....

Hi

I recently had the same problem. For some reason it disappeared after i
switched on the cached exchange mode feature. Don't know if it has any
relevans but i think it is worth a try.

Under some circumstances, the Outlook Address Book service will not get added to a new mail profile, even though the .mst file includes a .prf file that should add it. We don't really know why that happens. The solution is to use the CIW to create another .prf file and just export it from the CIW; don't include it in the .mst file. In the second .prf file , you'll want to set it to modify the existing profile, not create an Exchange account, and add the Outlook Address Book. You can deploy that .prf file as an additional file with the CIW installation, post in on your intranet, etc. and tell users to run it if they have problems getting their Contacts to show up in the Outlook Address Book.

Hi Sue

I used CIW to change my MST file and included an Outlook Address book (Even
tough it was there in their OfficeXP) and that seemed to do the trick. (It
did on my Test setup.)
I'll continue to test on some more PC's before releasing it for the users.

Thanks !

Jan
