I installed Office 2007 with option to retain Office 2003.
I learned after the fact, that Outlook 2003 is replaced by Outlook 2007. I would have be happy with this change provided Outlook 2007 worked. I get the following error message when I try to connect to the exchange server for the first time: "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Echange has failed." I have unsuccessfully tried to : (a) Starting Outlook 2007 in safe mode. (b) Create a new profile. Thanks for your reply. |

Thanks.
Server name and the user name were both correct and recognized. Our center is running Exchange Server 5.5, which as I understand is not compatible with Outlook 2007. I am told that our university IT will manage our center's IT. They are planning to upgrade Exchange Server. Are there any other workarounds? I don't believe so. Outlook 2007 is not supported by Exchange Server 5.5; I
suspect your problem will solve itself when your IT folks replace Exchange 5.5 with 2003 or 2007. Thanks again.
We uninstalled Outlook 2007 and re-installed Outlook 2003. I can not access "archive.pst" file as it is asking for a password, I do not remember setting. I would appreciate help with this. I am having the same problem but have exchange 2003. Outlook 2003 works fine

Sadly, that's one of the reasons why PST = BAD; assuming this is an ANSI
PST, you might be able to remove the password (that it set all by itself) with this utility: http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/passwordonpst.htm I forgot the password for my PST-file Hal -- Hal Hostetler, CPBE -- Senior Engineer/MIS -- MS MVP-Print/Imaging -- WA7BGX http://www.kvoa.com -- "When News breaks, we fix it!" Hal,
I appreciate your prompt response. I cannot help but ask myself, what could I have done differently to prevent this? Your suggestion seems to have worked partially.
