Outlook Express recieving problems.
Hello.
I have a problem with my Outlook Express. I can send, but not recieve any mails. Also, when I click on any unopenned mail in my inbox a message comes up stating that a reciept could not be sent. The last e-mail message that I did recieve repeated itself several times and then no more would come through. I tried changing the settings not to send reciepts, but this did not help. When trying to recieve messages the following error message comes up. "An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.bigpond.com', Server: 'mail.bigpond.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0133" I have tried calling my ISP a few times, but their ideas have not helped and I do not fancy sitting for another hour or so on hold waiting to get to the top of their cue yet again. I have removed and re-added my account a few times and also emptied my e-mail box via the web at my ISP's site and still no luck. Does any one have any ideas that could help me out? Thankyou. Bye for now. Outlook Express recieving problems.
First off, this forum is for Microsoft Office Outlook, not Outlook Express;
the two are distinctly different applications, even though they share the same name. You'll find a much higher level of OE expertise in one of the OE forums. having said that, this error is often caused by a damaged Inbox folder. To correct it: 1. Create a new folder in OE. 2. Drag the existing messages in your Inbox to this folder. 3. Look for your storage folder in Tools/Options/Maintenance/Storefolder, close OE, go to this folder with Windows Explorer and delete or rename the file inbox.dbx. At next start, OE will create a new and empty file. 4. Restart OE and drag the messages you moved to the new folder back into the newly created Inbox. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/233264/en-us OLEXP: Error Message If the Folders.dbx File Is Missing or Damaged http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash When OE crashes or won't start Hal -- Hal Hostetler, CPBE -- Senior Engineer/MIS -- MS MVP-Print/Imaging -- WA7BGX http://www.kvoa.com -- "When News breaks, we fix it!"
