How can I copy from.....
DL, reading from one of your responses dated 7.29.07 4.34 am quote "OL
FileOpenData File.....browse to location" when I highlight the file, archive.pst right click copy and try to paste into a folder, it says "cannot copy archive..." Likewise I also cannot paste the contacts.pst and there is a message ' cannot copy contacts. The process cannot access the file because another process hasloaded a portion of the file". So how can I transfer and back up the emails, thanks |

You need to quit Outlook before copying the .pst files that it has open.

Its not entirely clear as to whether you are trying to open a data file or
merely copy from one to another There is a free OL backup addin on MS OL site Generally you copy a pst (data file) to some other location ONLY when OL is closed - do it whilst OL is open and you will corrupt the data file "lauraqto" wrote in message ... My objective is to keep a copy of whatever in my OL in dvd and at the same
time transfer whatever is existing in OL into another hdd which has the same win xp/OL . In short duplicate it into another hdd and keep a dvd copy. As suggested, I was able to copy/paste the files after complete close/exit the OL. Sorry I cant find the free OL backup addin, can you please direct/show me how, thank you very much for your time "DL" wrote: Its not entirely clear as to whether you are trying to open a data file or merely copy from one to another There is a free OL backup addin on MS OL site Generally you copy a pst (data file) to some other location ONLY when OL is closed - do it whilst OL is open and you will corrupt the data file "lauraqto" wrote in message ... PS There is no need to copy/backup a data file to the Outlook default location, on another hd, it can be located in any suitable location. Many people locate it in My Documents as they back up that particular folder regularly with their backup app "lauraqto" wrote in message ...
