Default e-mail downloads

Just reinstalled Outlook 2000 from original disk on upgraded motherboard,
processor and hdd. Problem is when I open Outlook it goes to my provider
(COX.net) and brings down all my mail, but it also deletes many of the items
upon download. What have I done wron in the new installtion?
