removing add-ins
I recently upgraded from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007.
When I start Outlook, I get the message that one of the add-ins could not be loaded. I am instructed to contact the manufacturer and upgrade the add-in or remove it. Since it is an add-in for my mobile phone (which I do not need the add-in anyway), I have tried to find out in Outlook how to remove the add-in. I cannot find any information on removing it. Does anyone have information on removing this add-in? Thanks for your help. |

I had been there before, but did not know what to do because I did not click
on "Go". This time I did and was able to remove it. Thanks, Brian for the help. "Brian Tillman" wrote: Ed Wood wrote: Does anyone have information on removing this add-in? ToolsTrust CenterAddIns -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

FOLLOW UP:
After following the instructions that Brian posted, I am still getting the same error message at startup. I have contacted moble Phone Tools to see if there is any fix. The exact message that I get is: "The Add-in "mobile PhoneTools" (C:/Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Out97.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacturer for an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in." I went to their website and downloaded the current version of the software which did not fix the problem. If anyone else has another solution, I would like to hear it. I am getting weary of the message every time I start Outlook 2007. As I do not need the program to do anything but download pictures from my Motorola RAZR cell phone to my computer, I would gladly remove the add-in to Outlook 2007 if I could find out how. Again, thanks for everyone's suggestions and help. "Ed Wood" wrote: I had been there before, but did not know what to do because I did not click on "Go". This time I did and was able to remove it. Second, open Windows Explorer and in the Address field, enter %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook for WIndows XP and %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook for Vista and click Go. You should see a file named extend.dat there. With Outlook closed, delete that file. I went to their website and downloaded the current version of the software which did not fix the problem. After the above, reinstall this software and see if things have improved. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
