Default unable to clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages che

I'm trying to make some basic changes and create some e-mail templates. I
can't save anything as a outlook template because word is my editor and I
can't remove word because the option is grayed out.
What am I missing here??

MS Outlook 2003

I can't keep Outlook from using word to create everything. Our IT dept
pushed out defaults to "help" people but in the process I think they were a
little heavy handed. When I put in the trouble ticket they told me to unclick
the box. They were quite confussed when I told them that the box was grayed
out.

They really need to attend to this! Make them work for their money.

I finally got it fixed. Not sure what they did but maybe 6 trouble tickets
and a courteous request to the supervisor might have had something to do with
it.
Thanks for the help.
