Can outlook link up with hotmail? (XPSp2, std hotmail account)
 

Depending on what page I look at only hotmail accounts which are paid for may
be linked in with outlook. Other pages offer directions, which fail to work.

Typical failure is "
Task 'Hotmail : Folder : Inbox Synchronziing headers.' reported error
(0x800CCCF6): 'An unknown error has occured. Please save any existing work
and restart the program.'
"

Now I have used/configured it to work w/ half a dozen other email types, but
never hotmail.

If you're using Hotmail Plus or Premium, you can use
