Outlook won't open

We installed the new version of internet explorer and when we try to open
microsoft outlook 2003 it won't open. We get a message saying microsoft
outlook has encounter a problem and needs to close. We uninstalled the new
version and put on the last version and now still can't get into Outlook (the
same warning comes up)!

We need to know what that error message says. When you get an "Illegal
Operation" or "encountered a problem" message, there is usually a "Details"
button, or a "click here" link to see the error report. When you click on
the button/link, it will give a message like: XXXX caused an error in YYYY
and a bunch of register nonsense or it will list the Appname XXXX and
Modname YYYY. The XXXX and YYYY are important to identify the cause and
solution. You can ignore the rest of the message.

Here are a couple things to try:

1. Run the FIXMAPI tool:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/228457/en-us
Description of the Fixmapi.exe Tool Included with Internet Explorer 5

2. Delete or rename MSMAPI32.DLL and run Detect and Repair.

Hi both of those sugestions were tried and it did fix the problem. Also a
system restore was done to the date that we actually could access outlook and
did not work.
What could we try now?
