How do I convert my archive files to the newer format?

Outlook 2007 hasn't been able to archive data because my archive.pst file is
still in the Outlook Data Files (97-2002) format. I managed to convert my
regular outlook.pst file to the newer format when I upgraded from 2003 to
2007. (Since Outlook 2003 could read both the older and newer file formats I
wasn't even aware that the formats had changed.) But I didn't get my
archive.pst file converted and now I can't figure out how to do it... nor can
I find any instructions on the Microsoft site. Does anyone know how this is
done?

Hi smithwdoug,

have a look on this site :

"Convert a non-Unicode data file (.pst) to a Unicode data file (.pst),
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...383511033.aspx

Maybe it helps.

WIth Outlook closed, just rename the old archive PST and Outlook will create
a new one when autoarchive runs the next time.

Thanks, Mr. Tillman. However, my "old" archive file (in Outlook 97-2002
format) is already named archive.pst. So unless I don't understand what
you're suggesting, it already appears to be a PST file; but in the wrong
format.

Using Windows Explorer, name the old file "archive.pst" to something like
"archive-old.pst" or "archive-2007.pst" so that it's not a file Outlook is
referencing. If the old PST is listed in the Folder List view of the
Navigation Pane, close it there first by right-clicking its root and
choosing Close. Then rename it.
