I have just installed and configured Outlook to work with my e-mail. If I
try to do a mail merge I get the following message: schdmapi.dll could not be loaded, check your e-mail and reinstall outlook if needed. After I close the mail merge I see a box stating: outlook could not load the data source. I tried a file repair but theat did not help. Anyone have any ideas? Thanx Dave |

There are endless possibilities. No answer is possible because you posted no
relevant information. The minimum you should post includes Outlook version, Word version, steps used to perform the merge, default mail program, default Contacts manager. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... My bad on the info!
I have Office 2003 working with Outlook 2003 and the Outlook connector to my MSN browser The default mail program is Outlook. The contact list is the default offering. The steps followed are on the following link : http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...09901033.aspx? I can do the merge in Word but to open both programs is an extra step. Mainly the intended use with the Outlook portion is to print envelopes. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: There are endless possibilities. "To open both programs is an extra step?" Mail merges require both Word and
Outlook and always have. I don't understand what your question is. The error message means you have not configured your setup correctly. Start your merge from Outlook if you can't figure out what you have configured incorrectly. That will overcome the errors in your configuration. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... My bad on the info! What part of your question did I not answer? Repeating:
Start your merge from Outlook. This is what I am trying to figure out!
Where can I find this file? (schdmapi.dll) A search does not turn it up on my HD. Where does the file belong? The info I have provided in the previous posts is all I have at the minute. What else do you require? The installation is straight off the CD. Nothing has been changed from the defaults! I provided the link as to the proceedure I folllowed to get the error to occur. The data source cannot be opened, this is why the merge fails. I understand the merge requires both programs but I should not have to open BOTH to make the merge work. After screwing with the two programs for hours, I figured out the flaw in the proceedure. The directions DO NOT state that there is a box that opens with the title of MERGE. ONE NEEDS TO CLICK CANCEL to make the proceedure work. Thanks BUT NO THANKS "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: What part of your question did I not answer? Of _course_ you must open both programs. What programs do you know that work
without running? Ignore the file! The error message simply means you do not have Outlook and Word configured correctly. Sooner or later you must provide us some information: 1. Outlook version 2. Default mail program 3. Default Contacts manager 4. How you have your Outlook Address Book Service configured -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ... The news server has been inconsistent today, but no post in this thread
contains the information needed to know which of the many causes for this error pertained to you. I suspect end user error in trying to use the Mail Merge Helper instead of the Mail Merge Toolbar to complete the merge. But without the precise steps you were using and the configuration, no one could guess. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave" wrote in message ...
