I have recently installed Office 2007 on my new laptop running Windows Vista.
I imported mail and contacts to Outlook from my old laptop which had Office 2003 and Windows Vista. When i try to add my POP3 mail account to my new Outlook it continuously asks me to enter the account password, even though i try to save the password. This prohibits me from downloading mails. I have tried to create a new pst data file in case the import damaged or corrupted the existing file, but with no effect. I have another POP3 mail account on another domain, and that account works fine. When i try to use my problem account in Windows Mail it too works fine!! I'm all out of ideas. Can anybody help me here, thanks. |

Try creating a new Outlook profile. In addition to losing saved data,
importing a .PST file very often hoses the Outlook profile. Create a new profile, then connect it to your old .PST file using 'File|Open|Outlook Data File'. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003 http://www.slipstick.com/config/movepst.htm To move a Personal Folders .pst file http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...771141033.aspx Reconnect your old Outlook data file FYI, importing a .PST loses the following information: 1. Custom Forms 2. Custom Views 3. Connections between contacts and activities 4. Received dates on mail 5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar 6. Journal connections 7. I had similar difficulty which I solved. I could receive but not send emails
- password request everytime. Spent hours resetting passwords on both Outlook side and my Go Daddy email account. Curiously I have 3 emails and two of three worked fine in Vista /Outlook 2007. After many calls to GoDaddy determined my oldest email account with SMTP forwarding has an associated password. Newer email accounts do not requre a SMTP password. Solved problem by canceling my Go Daddy email account, then waiting 15 minutes then renentering all the information. The "new" account then did not require the SMTP password, and Outlook stopped asking for it. Help at GoDaddy said this was easier than trying to correct in Outlook.
