I installed Outlook 2003 on a new Vista OS desk top computer and it won't
keep my password. I have set up this POP3 account on several XP os computers and had no problems. When I enter the password during the account set up and hit the test accout settings it works. As soon as I exit the set up and hit send/receive a error window opens asking for my password, when I enter my password it doesn't work. When I go back in to the email setup wizard the password is missing even though the save password box is checked. I tried checking and even changing the registry settings. Is there a patch or download for this fix? Please help, my wife thinks I am an idiot for upgrading to Vista. Am I? |

I'm having a similar problem with Outlook 2002. Have to enter my Hotmail
password every time I open Outlook. I have some other issues, but I'll raise these via a separate posting. Known issue, Outlook 2002 is not fully compatible with Vista and will not
save passwords. http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm Does Outlook work on Vista? I have essentially the same problem using 2003 with Vista. My password
disappears every time I close outlook. My ISP is Comcast, which only provides support to Outlook Express. I even did a reinstall of the Office program, but it didn't help. Doesn't anyone have a solution ? WK "Paul from Veranda" wrote: I installed Outlook 2003 on a new Vista OS desk top computer and it won't keep my password. I am embarrassed! After carefully re-reading Hal Hostetler's reply of 10/6, I
followed the link and found that Outlook 2002 does not retain passwords on Vista. I checked my version and found it was 2002, not 2003. Make sure the check box and circle in the 'Outgoing Server' tab are selected.
If only the box is checked then you will get the kind of problem you described. Good Luck M-M "WK" wrote: I have essentially the same problem using 2003 with Vista.
