Outlook insists on being default email client
Installed Outlook 2003 (11.8217.8221 SP3) a week ago for the Calendar
function only. Have not set up any mail accts. Am happy with my existing mail client; however, whenever I run Outlook (Calendar) it insists on setting itself as the default mail client. The check box in Tools/Options/Other is NOT checked. Fortunately my mail client warns me that Outlook has hijacked the mailto: association and I reset it each time, which is tedious. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks a lot. XP Pro SP3, not networked. Bob |
Outlook insists on being default email client
it should only do it when an office update is installed and it can't be
stopped. :( -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. Outlook insists on being default email client
As an update to my original post, about a week after posting it Outlook
started behaving the way it should. Maybe it needed to 'break in', like a new car engine. Or something. |

It definitely wasn't because it got 'broken in'. A new update probably fixed
it. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com.
