Default Moving Outlook users from Exchange 2003 to 2007

Hi there,

I will be moving users from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. On the back
end, this simply involves moving the mailbox. However, what is the right
approach to use on the user's Outlook client? Does this require deleting the
OST file, or creating a new profile altogether, or simply changing the
Exchange Server name in the existing Outlook profile? Are the combination of
Outlook and Exchange smart enough to re-sync using the pre-existing OST, or
will that cause problems?

Thanks,

- Earl

Unless something has changed, after a mailbox is moved, Outlook
automagically figures this out and connects to the right server, no
additional effort required. The existing .OST should sync without issue
unless the Outlook profile is deleted/re-created which will orphan it. No
client attention was necessary when we moved from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange
2003.

It does automatically figure it out. Thanks.

Earlier, it looked like this auto reconfiguration feature wasn't working.
However, I simply wasn't giving AD enough time to replicate the changes so
that Outlook could figure it out. Today, I moved a user, waited a few
minutes for things to ripple through, and then reconnected with Outlook, and
voila! Outlook found the new Exchange 2007 server and was happy.

Thanks again,

- Earl
