Operation Failed

I just did an HP system restore on my mom's computer after a hard drive
crash. After reinstalling her copy of Office 2000, Outlook opens and
immediately gives me the message "Operation Failed" After I click OK, the
application closes.

I can see her email in the program behind the window but it wont stay open.
Microsoft support articles told me to go through StartSettingsControl
PanelMail, but when I double click the Mail icon, nothing happens.

Windows XP Home Edition SP2
HP a305w
Office 2000

Thank you.

Try using Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs to run the Office setup to
repair Outlook.

Operation Failed

I used both the Office repair tool son the discs and I used the ORK
downloaded from Microsoft.com.

Are there any MVP's around to help with this problem?
