Default Address Book exact location

Trying to use my Outlook 2007 (Vista) contact list as my Word 2007 Address
Book for merging. The file is currently under my Personal Folders/Address
Book but Word is not picking it up to load. Should it be somewhere else in
my folder list?

You mean your Contacts folder?
Is it enabled as an Outlook Address Book?
Right click on your Contacts folder- Properties- tab Outlook Address Book
