Bought a new laptop with Office 2007 and Vista Ultimate. How do i bring my
Outlook 2003 SP3 files from my old computer, which was running XP to my new
laptop and make them work in the newer version of Outlook? They should
supply a dummies guide.

Question is answered daily here.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

First of all you cannot use the Office 2003 SP3 on Office 2007. You will need to
download the Office 2007 SP2 for Office 2007 and install it.

The data files from Outlook 2003 SP3 can most certainly be used in Outlook
2007.
Doubt the user is attempting to apply the 2003 SP3 patch to Outlook 2007.

Really hard to imagine anyone would ever try to apply a patch from an older
version to a newer one. Seems far more likely they would want to migrate
their data from Outlook 2003 SP3 to Outlook 2007.
Sure would be nice if posts were made clearly.

I was only telling you what operating system and software I had before and
have now. I thought that information might be relevant.

You are correct. I'm just trying to migrate Outlook 2003 data from old
computer to Outlook 2007 on new computer.

I have opened the old *.pst file in my new Outlook program on my new
computer. Shows two groups of personal folders. I didn't quite understand
the instructiions to bring the two groups into one group. Do I have to
delete the Personal Folders that I created in Outlook 2007 when I installed
activated Outlook 2007? If so, will I lose the business contact manager,
whatever that is, that came with Outlook 2007?

By the way, I can't seem to search for email in the folders tha I brought
over. Even when I click on the folder and am looking right at the email, it
comes up empty in the search.

All your questions are answered in the references I posted. They clearly
tell you that if Outlook 2007 created a new PST file, then you set your old
PST as the default, restart Outlook, and close the PST file it created
(since it contains no data at this point).
BCM does not come with Outlook 2007 and is not in play here. If you have
questions about it, ask in a BCM group.

Hey Russ. I appreciate your help and realize that I must be frustrating to
deal with. I don't do this for a living as you do.

I redirected email to the correct renamed folder but it doesn't seem to stay
redirected when I send myself an email message. The email to myself goes to
the junk mail box of the original folder. Then I check on accounts again,
and it's as if iI never changed the folder location. Therefore, it won't let
me close the empty PST that was created when I setup the new Outlook software.

Another odd thing is that there are actually three PST files. Two are
duplicates of the one from the old computer. Both duplicates show the same
emails from the old computer.

As far a Business Contact Manager is concerned, I am not sure why you would
say that is not involved. Outlook did setup a folder with that name on it.
Was that just a teaser to get me to buy BCM software?

Not enough information here. BCM is not supplied with Outlook 2007 and is a
completely separate app. Hard to know what you did wrong without knowing
what you did. Happy to figure it out if you would post that information.
Spare no detail because we can't just guess this stuff.
