program not responding

I am unable to go to any links once I have received them as an e-mail. I just
get the hour glass and when I go to control/aut/delete, it says program not
responding then the site comes up. Why is it saying not responding and what
can I do to find out why. I am also unable to open any attachments. Please
help.
