Hi All,
On a Dell XPS desktop running XP SP3 and MS office Enterprise 2007, MS Outlook suddenly locks up. While in the process of writing the body of an e-mail message (with 2 small Excel attachments), Outlook suddenly locks. I am unable to type in the body of the e-mail, unable to close it, unable to select either the message's tab or the Outlook tab from the bottom taskbar. I cannot minimize any of the open windows. When I pull up Task manager, it shows both the message and Outlook as "running" and there are no error messages shown anywhere. Ending the process in the Task Manager releases Outlook and allows it to start up normally, but retrieving the message from "Drafts" and trying to edit again causes the freeze. Prior to today, MS Outlook 2007 had been operating normally. From all I have read here, a re-install is called for. Though I have the key for MS Office Enterprise 2007 that is on this PC, I cannot locate the original disks. Is this locking/freezing a known issue, and if so is there a known fix? If I need to re-install, is there a resource for downloading the software for the reinstall using my oem key? -- Joe E |

Nothing you have read here states an uninstall/reinstall would be required.
Suggestions may have been to run scanpst.exe, and Office Diagnostics in the first instance. It might also have been suggested that you start outlook using the safe switch "Joe" wrote in message ... Hi, was it something I said? lol I did read about re-installing in some of
the FAQ's I waded through. I have tried the Office Diagnostics and found no issues to correct. Will give the scanpst.exe a try and see what results. Any other ideas? Today his Outlook seems to be running fine...but still need to identify what caused the issues yesterday. Joe E "DL" wrote: Nothing you have read here states an uninstall/reinstall would be required. You could try starting OL with the safe switch, if the issue persists, then
see how it behaves. If the Problem lies with the OL Profile, uninstall / reinstall does nothing, since the reinstall connects to the origonal profile & settings "Joe" wrote in message ... I have the same issue. It only happens on replies to external addresses
(different server). Not always, but twice today already. It takes taskman about 2 minutes to kill the process.
