Default How do I set up e-mails on new laptop

I use Microsoft Outlook for my e-mails, and recently purchased a DELL laptop
but cannot find any links to start receiving e-mails on laptop.

Being a complete ludite I am being told by Virgin Media I need to download
but what.

Hope you can help.

Many thanks.

You need the account settings as supplied by VM
Account type: pop
Incoming Server: mail.virgin.net
Outgoing Server(smtp): mail.virgin.net
Then your user name & password

you need to get the settings from virgin media. Go to the help tab, select cable or national and select outlook or outlook express to get the screen shots of what you have to do. Then go to ms outllok tools tab, select account settings and fill in the info. I am sure virgin has a live help. This is a very common problem and they will be able to do it over the phone with you in short order.

Default can't recover my contacts

Pretty much everything, it appears.
"Had to recover files" means what exactly?
There is no scenario in which you would ever import Outlook data to
"recover" it.
State precisely how you created your "backup" and how you transferred it to
your new installation.. Once you do, we can tell you what you did wrong.

I installed windows 7 but had to recover files. I imported the back up
pst file but the contacts don't show up in outlook. (office 2007)
What could I be doing wrong?
