I just reinstalled my Outlook 2002 on Win7 machine with Norton Internet
security. I can't see attachments in my mail messages, but there's no
notification on the infobar that it's been blocked. It happens both with new
messages and with those in folders that I read on the previous install, so
I'm sure they're not blocked files.

Any ideas how to fix?

Norton strikes again. Uninstall Norton using their uninstall tool as per the link
below and then re-install it without the email integration (scanning) option. That
should solve your issue

Apparently it's not Norton. Email integration didn't work, so I tried it with
Norton completely removed. Still the same problem.

Then you have some Security program that is blockingit. How did you remove Norton.
Did you use the Tool that I posted? If not then Norton is not removed.

Yes, I used the tool on the Norton website. I then launched Outlook before
the tool reinstalled. Same attachments blocked. I called Norton, who said
since it occured without their software running, it wasn't their issue. I'm
down to just MSG attachments being blocked, but still without the warning
bar.

I've also tried removing the various add-in's. Again, no joy. I checked that
Outlook is indeed the tool designated to open MSG attachments. It is, and I
can open the attachment once it's on my desktop. Just not in Outlook.

Outlook 2002 isn't compatible with Windows 7. You need at least Outlook 2003.

Not compatable?? Strange, as the only thing not working is the suppression of
MSG files. Everything else seems fine.

The application is 10 years old and no longer supported. Microsoft doesn't
even release patches for it anymore. If it doesn't behave as expected on
Vista or newer, this is the reason why.
