Delete all contacts?
I did a sync to my smart phone, all the contacts in the cell phone are
default last name first name, when it synced back to outlook it duplicated all the names example in outlook it originally looked like John Doe, now it also has Doe John. My question is I want to delete all my contacts how can I do this with one key stroke. I have already backed up my contacts the way I want them in a PST.file -- Microsoft Office 2003 Version Students and Teachers Edition Windows Vista Home Premium Thank-you Carl R |
Delete all contacts?
Unclear question.
You want to delete "all my contacts" from where? What does the sync have to do with this? To which name field are you referring and what are you trying to accomplish? -- Russ Valentine "Carl R" wrote in message ... Delete all contacts?
Sorry Russ for not explaining in more detail My Smart phone syncs with M/S
office I would like to delete all my contacts from Office 2003. * The reason is, is because when I did my sync from the comp. to the phone it transferred all my contact info to the phone, the phone already had all the contact numbers in there but by the phones default software it list last name 1st ,1st name last, so it duplicated all the contacts. * Then transferred back all the duplicates in the phone back to the comp. and duplicated all the contacts in the comp. The sync program is a two way program * I am sorry I don't know what name field means I assume it means how u want your contact name filed as Jon Doe or Doe Jon. * M/S office has a default of saving contacts as Doe Jon with the option to switch which I do as I enter contacts , 1st names are easier to remember. My HTC smart phone has the same default like M/S * so now I have Jon Doe & Doe Jon in my phone contacts and the same in M/S office * to correct this error I will delete all duplicate contacts in my phone * I will delete all duplicate contacts in M/S office if this can be done? * I will then restore my the PST file I created yesterday before any of this problem happened all my contacts are backed up as Jon Doe (1st name last name) * I will then sync my comp. M/S contacts to my empty contacts on my phone and then the phone contacts will mirror back to the comp. as 1st name last name. I hope I explained myself better this time. I just want to know if I can single key stroke delete all my contacts? -- Microsoft Office 2003 Version Students and Teachers Edition Windows Vista Home Premium Thank-you Carl R "Russ Valentine" wrote: Unclear question. You aren't asking an Outlook question, nor can we help you. Your "Smart
Phone" is anything but. What your sync software does is beyond the control of Outlook. If it does not do what it should, you must take it up with whoever supports your sync software. Personally, I would never sync any Contact database I value and wanted to preserve with any "Smart Phone." If you do, back it up several times a day and before any sync operation. Deleting your Contacts from Outlook seems like a very bad idea if you think your sync software will restore them. It will not. -- Russ Valentine "Carl R" wrote in message ... I have already backed up my contacts the way I want them in a PST.file To answer your direct question, select a contact and then press Ctrl+A to select them all. Press Delete. However, I agree with Russ that you may be asking for trouble. You could wind up deleting all the contacts fro the phone as well when you sync.
